UAB’s McMurry Named Conference USA Co-Hitter Of The Week 04/01/2008 - Baseball - AL
UAB center fielder Cody McMurry has been named Conference USA Co-Hitter of the Week after he hit .364 with three home runs and 10 RBI in the Blazers’ five games last week. McMurry delivered a three-run home run and a game-winning single in the bottom of the ninth to beat Tulane on Saturday.

McMurry shares this week’s award with Houston third baseman Bryan Pounds who hit .476 with two homers. Southern Miss’ Barry Bowden was named the league’s pitcher of the week for the third time this season.

The three-run homer against Tulane on Saturday was the second of the series for McMurry as he hit a three-run blast in the bottom of the ninth in Friday’s game to make it a one-run contest.

The Blazers will now play a home-and-away midweek series with Alabama beginning Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in Tuscaloosa before hosting the Crimson Tide at Regions Park at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
