How to deal with chronic pain (Part 2)

Most people diagnosed with fibromyalgia have this
very cycle going on. So then, by taking NSAIDs or other
medications, we end up covering up our symptoms, but
not actually fixing the problem.
All right, so what on earth can be done to fix this
vicious cycle?
1. Potential triggers must be removed. These are anything
causing structural, metabolic or emotional stress.
2. Changes to your diet are essential. Foods high in
antioxidants (fruits and veggies) are needed, while steering
clear of acidic foods (red meat, sugar, caffeine and
dairy).
3. Arachadonic acid (part of the inflammation cascade)
needs to be displaced with foods high in omega-3s (deep
sea fish and flax are the best sources).
4. An organic diet and minimal microwave use are
both very important for minimizing toxin exposure.
5. A low glycemic diet. (Do a google search for
glycemic index and you will find a list of foods to enjoy).
6. A proper liver/gall bladder, and intestinal cleanse or
detox.
7. Make sure your spine is properly aligned. Your nervous
system controls your entire body and is housed inside
your spine. Your nerves need to be free of interference in
order to properly control your pain.
If you are catching your pain early enough, the things
mentioned above will surely keep you pain-free. If your
pain has been going on for quite some time, and you have
been using medications to control it for more than a couple
weeks, your system may need additional support. Talk
to a nutritionally-certified healthcare provider about your
options for nutraceutical support in order to stop the pain
cycle and fix the problem. As always, I am available to
answer specific questions. There is truly no reason for
anyone to be in pain.

Where Are They Now - Justin Graves (Justin Graves Band)
In August 2001 Justin and his wife, Michelle, answered the call on their lives and began their ministry together by founding The Brown Band. They, along with their band members, travelled all over Texas leading worship for youth camps and retreats for thousands of kids.

After 6 successful years with The Brown Band and 4 CD’s later, Justin was signed in August 2007 as the 3rd artist to Good For The Soul Music, a record label based in San Antonio, TX. With the release of his first solo praise and worship album, Justin and Michelle realized that a change was due. So in January 2008 the name of the band was changed to the Justin Graves Band.

Never missing a beat, the Justin Graves Band is busier then ever. Travelling full-time across Texas and into 14 other states to date, leading worship for church services, conferences, camps, retreats, for people of all ages and denominations, the Justin Graves Band is becoming a well known name in worship circles.

Justin Graves is a grass roots / word of mouth success story in the exploding Praise & Worship music field. He is a seasoned worship leader who has gradually spread his charismatic style one event at a time.

In his 5th CD titled “Heart Open Wide” released in January 2008 by GFTSM, Justin’s music is from the heart, real and transparent, things that he and Michelle pray their ministry is as well.

The mission of the Justin Graves Band is through their music to create an environment for people to experience the never-ending presence of God. They do that through high-energy, upbeat songs of praise to mellow, fall to your knees songs of worship. After experiencing the Justin Graves Band, the realness of the band, the truth in the music and the hearts of Justin and Michelle, their prayer is that you will leave with the continued challenge to live with your heart open wide for Jesus and worship Him with everything.

Justin's Bio
I am blessed to be able to use my relationship with God as an opportunity to be a positive role model for the people I have the privilege to meet and lead in worship.

I was born into a strong Christian family who valued teaching and showing me God’s love on a daily basis. My parents knew I had a calling on my life from the moment I was conceived and prayed that I would know God and answer that call. My mom and dad are singers who traveled and performed at different churches. So naturally, when I was old enough I began singing with them. We would perform regularly at our home church and often traveled to other churches to perform.

When I was ten, I accepted and welcomed Christ into my life on the way home from church. My parents prayed with me in the car making it a very special moment for all of us. The following week I made my acceptance public and was baptized on my eleventh birthday.

When I was fourteen my youth pastor came to me with a bass guitar and told me he wanted me to learn to play so that we could start a youth band. I had never played bass or guitar before, but I began teaching myself. Before we were able to begin the band, the youth minister left. However, from the moment I picked up the bass I had a passion for it that would continue to grow. I began playing with the main church orchestra and started a band with a few of my high school friends…we were called Wholehearted….oh yea!

By the time I was sixteen I had my life planned. I was going to go to college to become a meteorologist. Then one Wednesday night at church, after performing a drama to a song called “He Holds the Keys”, I heard God calling me to something very different then what I had planned. I heard Him telling me that I was to be a worship leader. I had no idea how that would happen, but the calling was so strong and I KNEW this was the voice of God speaking directly to me and I KNEW I needed to act upon his calling. For Christmas that year I asked for a guitar and began learning how to play. I also became interested in learning to become a song writer. My mother is a song writer and was instrumental in helping me learn the process of putting my words into a song. Over time, I was able to develop my own unique style. This was the beginning of my passion for writing praise and worship and also the beginning of answering the call on my life.

Through high school I was obedient to my calling by leading worship at retreats and church services whenever I could. I had a real love for leading worship and saw it as an honor and something to be taken seriously. I never wanted to be a rock star. I truly wanted to be someone to write and share songs that God had given me. I prayed that the songs could be used to touch at least one person each time. I have a heart for people and a passion for God and now I was able to find a way to make the two come together.

I believe that God called me out of college to begin my ministry for Him. I did not complete my degree, instead, at the age of twenty-one I began traveling full-time, playing music and living the life God planned for me. Receiving this calling from God, I held myself to a higher standard from the beginning. In high school I never used alcohol or partied. I have never used drugs and I was a virgin when I married my wife, Michelle. I believe God’s call on my life was not just to be a worship leader, but to hold myself to the highest standard so that I was a leader in more then just music. This is not to claim that I, by any means, am perfect. I stumble regularly, but I expect more from myself so that God can use me to the fullest and I strive for this goal daily.

I know that being a worship leader is where I am supposed to be. Right now it is very clear that my calling is to travel and lead worship. I have tried to make my calling fit into different forms, like taking worship leader positions at a churches, but when I do God makes it very clear that is not where I am called right now and removes me. Then I get back on track, doing what I am supposed to be doing, traveling to different places, meeting new people and leading worship through music for events. My passion is God and He has given me a deep passion for writing music and leading worship through music. He lays things on my heart and I write about them. He has put amazing people in my life to help me remain focused and obedient. One of which is my wife, Michelle, the perfect compliment to the calling on my life. She is the organized, detail person which was something I needed in the traveling musician’s world. Together we are a team. We have answered the call on our lives and we are thankful for the gifts we have been given and the trust God has in us to do this wonderfully fulfilling and exciting job. Together with our daughter Gabi and our band members we are the Justin Graves Band and our mission is to create an environment through music for people to experience God’s never-ending presence.
